Mehdi Hasan is an award-winning British journalist, broadcaster, author and political commentator. Based in Washington, D.C. he works full-time for Al Jazeera on UpFront and hosts the Deconstructed podcast on the investigative journal The Intercept.

He has conducted fascinating and wide-ranging interviews with the likes of Edward Snowden, Hamid Karzai, Ehud Olmert, Jimmy Wales and General Michael Flynn.

His wit and intelligence have ensured him regular appearances on media outlets including BBC1’s Question Time, BBC2’s Newsnight and Sky News, and he has been a contributor to The Guardian, The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Highly influential

Mehdi Hasan was previously the Political Director of Huffington Post UK and named one of the 100 most influential Britons on Twitter. He has also been included in the annual global lists of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world (The Muslim 500).

His fiery debate-winning speech at the Oxford Union on Islam and peace in 2013 went viral online, amassing more than three million views.

He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2000. In 2017 he was named European Young Leader by the Brussels-based Friends of Europe think tank.
